Yesterday I had the incredible opportunity to join a panel that included the voice of the most watched Paralympic (Rio 2016) video 'Superhumans (Yes I can), Tony Dee. This video had over 10million views. Tony, and I joined the incredible Sarah Houbolt and facilitator Madeleine Little for Brisbane Festival talkfest on how we ensure the Brisbane arts and creative industry can be more accessible and inclusive. With all eyes on Brisbane 2032 Paralympics, the panel talked about our vision for an inspiring, accessible program that defines Brisbane’s cultural legacy.
Big congratulations to all for starting this conversation, and getting ready for #Brisbane2023. The Games are much more than the athletes. We will have over 4,500 athletes competing, but there will be somewhere between 6,000 - 10,000 performers involved in the Opening and Closing Ceremony.
My vision? Is at least 20% of those are performers with disability, representing our community population.
Thanks for having me Melinda Collie-Holmes Fabienne Cooke Erin Fitzsimon, Fiona McDonald.
