The wonderful thing about language is that it's always evolving, like the human race. And the power of words in a workplace is so important. When someone says something to you can have a real impact and particularly if it's negative, it can stay with you for a long time. We just need to be mindful of the language we use in our communities and workplace when it comes to talking, or sharing or connecting with people with disability.
Words can have a huge impact on how someone feels, on their sense of self and their sense of belonging in a workplace. That's why it's really important that we keep the lines of communication open. Have conversations that ensure people know that they are supported. And, you know, we seek to improve our understanding of the support that people need with or without disability in our workplace.
