I never wanted to disclose my disability for fear of being perceivedless capable than my peers. And now, with maturity and life experience, I feelempowered to talk about it, to share my experiences, disability.
We need to keep challenging our perceptions of people with disability inour workplace, so that we feel more comfortable to have conversations andensure everyone is included.
By challenging our attitudes and perceptions, we can create a moreinclusive culture and a younger version of myself who didn't want to disclosefor fear of being judged, for fear that I wouldn't get a job. That is a thing of the past. And our young people today entering in the workforce, as well aspeople already in the workplace feel empowered, will disclose, and we're allb etter off for it. And increasingly, what we will see, which is reallyi mportant, is more people with disability in leadership roles.
And not only have I honestly have felt so empowered to talk about mydisability and to share my experiences. It's also the people around me.
I see it every day that they are getting enriched by the conversation that I'm having with them about my disability.Their education and understanding is improving of what it's like for someone with a person with disability in the workplace and how they can be better toensure that everyone is included, because inclusion benefits everyone.
